Now that there is an iOS 8 jailbreak out for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and other devices, it’s a case of sitting back and waiting for all of your favorite tweaks to be updated to take advantage of what the new mobile operating system has to offer. In the worst cases those tweaks might even need updates to make them work at all.
One tweak that many people will be keeping an eye on is iFile. The document and file browser of choice for many jailbreakers is currently on its way to receiving its very own iOS 8 update according to its developer, with work currently going into making iFile compatible with iOS 8.
Taking to the app’s Twitter page, its developer says that while he’s been away from the game for a couple of months, he is still around and that work is ongoing. The first update on the cards will add support for the new Box SDK that will stop the tweak from crashing on startup while also bringing iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus compatibility to the tweak. We’re told that it currently works fine on iPhone 6 hardware and the iPhone 6 Plus simulator, so hopefully it won’t be long before we get to see what IFile looks like when it’s given all that extra real estate to work with.
There’s currently no ETA as to when iFile will receive its big update, but with the current onus being on jailbreak developers to get tweaks updates for iOS 8, we wouldn’t expect it to take too long to get out the door.
With iFile getting an update, the list of must-have without iOS 8 support is getting shorter by the day, and long may that continue.
