iControlPhoto For iPhone Gives The User Additional Control Over iOS Photo Stream

When the tweak has been installed, users will be afforded with additional control over three aspects of the Photo Stream service. First and foremost, the package comes with the ability to either enable or disable the tweak through the native Settings app. I've said it on more than one occasion, but being able to immediately disable Cydia packages is imperative to the troubleshooting process if anything does go wrong, so it is definitely a welcome addition to this purchase.

The first main part of the tweak allows users to disable automatic upload of photos to the Photo Stream on the account. As you might imagine, uploading and storing photos does take up quite a bit of space and time and can actually use a lot of data. The flip side of the package also allows the user to disable the download of images. Being able to prevent uploads and downloads can definitely be beneficial to those who are on limited cellular data connections.

Finally, the package also allows captured screenshots to be removed from the Photo Stream upload process. On the grand scale of things; $2.00 isn't a great outlay for a piece of software that will be regularly used, but a lot of users will find iControlPhoto to be a hit and miss package.

iControlPhoto is available to download for $2.00 from the BigBoss repository and requires a jailbroken device running iOS 5.0 or above.

Photos, and more specifically, the sharing of photos, has always been extremely popular with iPhone and iOS users in general. Capturing, viewing and sharing images with friends and family has always been extremely easy with Apple devices, which is something that was been made even easier with the introduction of Photo Stream in iOS 5 and Shared Photo Streams in iOS 6. One of the latest packages to land in Cydia comes with the sole intention of providing users with a little additional control over how Photo Stream works on a jailbroken device.

The iControlPhoto package comes courtesy of a developer known as iOSHack, and has clearly been born out of one person’s frustration with how Apple’s native implementation of Photo Stream works. As the Cupertino based company invests more time and resources in the development of Photo Stream in new versions of iOS, the popularity of the feature grows. iControlPhoto should definitely prove to be a hit with those jailbroken users who make regular use of the functionality from within the Photos app.
