Apple’s iOS 18 software update is currently available in both developer and public beta forms which means that you can take it for a spin right now if you like. the update won’t be ready until September, but users can look forward to a new way to restore deleted or damaged photos and videos.
The new “Recovered” album will be available in the Photos app on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia when they arrive later this year and can be found in the Utilities section.
There, photos and videos that are not in the Photos Library will appear and they can be restored or deleted as required. This could happen if the Photos database becomes corrupted or has another issue, or when photos taken were not correctly saved. Whatever the reason, restoring these files is pretty simple.
Step 1: Open the Photos app and choose the Albums option.
Step 2: Scroll down to Utilities and select the Recovered album.
Step 3: Tap on the photo or video that you want to restore or delete.
Step 4: Choose Permanently Delete or Restore to Library based on what action you want to take.
Keep in mind that the Recovered album won’t be visible if there are no photos or videos on your device that are not stored in the Photos Library. That means that there is nothing wrong if you don’t see the Recovered album and you should not worry.
