How To Use iPhone 5s Touch ID For Password Autofills On Websites And Apps [VIDEO]

When it turned out that all the rumors were true and Apple was indeed going to bring fingerprint technology to the iPhone, the immediate question was an obvious one; what exactly can and cannot be done with a fingerprint?

As it turned out, Touch ID was able to unlock devices as well as authenticate an iCloud account, which meant that buying apps and media was just as easy as placing a finger on the Home button. No messing around typing long passwords just to download an app anymore!

But what about entering passwords in other apps, say Facebook, or even logging into websites like forums or online stores? None of that currently falls under Touch ID’s umbrella, but as it tends to be the case with these things, being able to do all that is just a jailbreak away.

iTouchSecure

Very recently released on Cydia and coming from the people behind tweaks like iRealSMS and PwnTunes, iTouchSecure is a tweak that will set you back $5 but is potentially worth every penny. What iTouchSecure does is to make it possible to enter passwords once and then have iOS re-enter them automatically the next time they’re needed so long as the finger being pressed against the Home button is one that has been set up for Touch ID. Entering passwords systemwide is now as easy as pressing the Home button on your iPhone.

This tweak also works with websites thanks to Safari’s Keychain support too, so those online stores and other sites that require logging in before they’re usable are all supported right out of the gate, which is great for those of us who are constantly logging in and out of websites. It’s the inclusion of this feature in particular that makes the tweak worth the $5 asking price, as far as we’re concerned.

The iTouchSecure tweak has only been available for a very short period of time currently, but initial user reports are positive. Given the developer’s past record we’d expect to see any teething problems ironed out in a timely manner too, so if this sounds like it could do a job for you, we suggest you give it a try. It’s only $5 after all.

Also, This isn’t the only tweak that extends the functionality of Touch ID on iPhone 5s. A few days back we were treated to a plethora of tweaks that let you unlock / lock apps and parts of iOS 7 using Touch ID. Those tweaks include: AppScan, BioLockdown, Applocker and BioProtect. Also, you can use Touch ID as a virtual Home button on iPhone 5s using the Virtual Home tweak.

The iTouchSecure tweak is available for download from the BigBoss repo in Cydia.
