Here’s how to use iOS 18 Game Mode on iPhone the right and easy way.
Apple’s iOS 18 brings with it a number of new features that improve the iPhone-using experience across the board. One of those improvements is a new Game Mode similar to that of the Mac, and here’s how you can use it.
The iOS 18 Game Mode is designed to improve the gaming experience for people who want to play the latest titles on their iPhones.
It reduces background processes and activity to give the game full access to the iPhone’s resources while also reducing the audio latency for those who own AirPods Pro 2.
The Game Mode also enables Personalized Spatial Audio in games when using AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max. Finally, Bluetooth latency is also reduced for game controllers.
In terms of enabling the feature, here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: Launch the game that you want to play.
Step 2: You should automatically see Game Mode enabled with a banner appearing at the top of the screen.
We did say that it was easy! You can now disable Game Mode if you like by tapping the alert.
The new Game Mode first launched on the Mac in 2023, and it’s built to minimize background activities with the aim of allowing as many components as possible to be dedicated to playing the game.
This will of course be more useful when playing graphically demanding games, or those that require a game controller, so don’t worry about using it on older titles — especially if you’re using a modern device like an iPhone 16.
