Here’s how to schedule messages on iOS 18 to send later on iPhone and iPad the right way.
When Apple announced the iOS 18 software update at WWDC on June 10 there was a raft of new features shown off including the ability to schedule messages to be sent later via the Messages app. Here’s how to use it.
Being able to schedule a message to be sent later has long been a feature that iPhone owners have been crying out for and it’s great that Apple is finally getting around to adding it. They’ll need to wait for iOS 18 to be released in order to use it however, and that won’t be released to the public until this fall. For now, developers can test the beta today while a public beta release will be made available in July.
Once you do have iOS 18 installed, here’s what you need to do to schedule a message to be sent later.
Step 1: Open the Messages app and choose the chat thread that you want to schedule a message to send later.
Step 2: Type out your message as normal but instead of pressing the send button as usual, tap the + icon and then tap More.
Step 3: Choose Send Later.
Step 4: Choose the date and time that you want the message to be sent.
Step 5: Tap the send button and the message will be scheduled.
And that’s all there is to it. You can now schedule messages to be sent later for things like birthdays and other events or just because you don’t want to risk waking someone up in the middle of the night.
