How To Remove Previous Owner Apple ID Without Password

Got a used iPhone and realized it’s still linked to the previous owner’s Apple ID, and you can’t remove it because you don’t know the password? This is a common scenario where the previous owner didn’t log out of their Apple ID before giving or selling their iPhone. So, what to do?

But what if you can’t reach the previous owner or they can’t help? That’s why you’re on this page. Next, we will demonstrate how to remove the previous owner’s Apple ID from a used iPhone without a password.

Can I leave the previous owner’s Apple ID on my iPhone?

Leaving the previous owner’s Apple ID on your iPhone is not a good thing. Your data, like photos and messages, will be synced to their account, and your location will be tracked by them. If none of this bothers you, in the short term, this may not be a big problem, and you can continue using your iPhone. However, you’ll run into problems eventually, especially if the previous owner changes their Apple ID password or if you update or erase your iPhone. Your iPhone will keep asking for the previous owner’s Apple ID password, preventing you from continuing to use it. So, without further ado, here is how to remove the previous owner’s Apple ID form your iPhone without a password.

Method 1: Remove Previous Owner’s Apple ID with iSumsoft iLock Refixer

If your iPhone has been erased or reset and now it displays the activation lock screen asking for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, iSumsoft iLock Refixer is the best solution. It’s a powerful Apple activation lock removal tool that allows you to remove the activation lock from your iPhone without the previous owner’s Apple ID password. You need to download and install the software tool on your computer, then follow the steps below.

Step 1: Run iSumsoft iLock Refixer on your computer and then select the Bypass ID option.

Step 2: Make sure your iPhone is connected to the computer via USB cable and click Start. The software will automatically recognize your iPhone and prepare the required files for removing the previous owner’s Apple ID.

Step 3: When the software screen prompts you to boot the iPhone into DFU mode, follow the instructions.

Step 4: The app will automatically begin jailbreaking your iPhone as soon as it detects that it is in DFU mode.

Step 5: Once the jailbreak is finished, the app will once more ask you to boot your iPhone into DFU mode. Follow the same directions.

Step 6: The app will instantly conduct a second jailbreak on your iPhone when it enters DFU mode again in order to run the files required to remove the previous owner’s Apple ID.

Step 7: As soon as the second jailbreak is finished, the app will begin removing the previous owner’s Apple ID from your iPhone.

Step 8: When the statement “Successfully Bypassed” appears on the software screen, the activation lock and previous owner’s Apple ID have been removed from your iPhone.

Step 9: Set up your iPhone again. During the setup process, don’t set up a Touch ID or passcode. And, when you are prompted to sign in with your Apple ID, tap “Forgot password or don’t have an Apple ID” > “Set Up Later in Settings” > “Don’t Use”. This allows you to complete the setup and access your iPhone without using an Apple ID.

Method 2: Remove Previous Owner’s Apple ID by Factory Reset

Another common scenario is that your iPhone hasn’t been erased and you still have access to it, and then you discover that it has the previous owner’s Apple ID logged in. In this instance, a factory reset is your preferred method to remove the previous owner’s Apple ID without a password. To do this, you’ll need a computer with iTunes installed, and then follow the procedures below.

Step 1: Make sure your iPhone has a passcode; if it doesn’t, head to Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Turn Passcode On to set up a passcode.

Step 2: Connect your iPhone to your computer via USB cable.

Step 3: On your iPhone, press and release the Volume Up button, then press and release the Volume Down button, and finally hold down the Side button until the recovery mode appears.

Step 4: Open iTunes on your computer and once it detects your iPhone, select the Restore button in the pop-up dialog box.

Step 5: Click Restore and Update. If any other dialog boxes pop up, confirm that you want to continue and iTunes will restore your iPhone to its factory settings.

Step 6: When the restore was successful, pick up your iPhone and set it up again.

Step 7: During the set-up process, when you see the activation lock asking for the previous owner’s Apple ID, tap Unlock with Device, if available. Then tap Use Device Passcode and enter the passcode that was previously used to unlock the iPhone. This will completely remove the previous owner’s Apple ID, and you can then complete the iPhone setup with your own Apple ID. If you don’t know the device passcode, contact the previous owner or try a common iPhone passcode like 123456, 111111, 123123, or 000000.
