Here’s how to jailbreak iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, 2018 iPad Pro with Chimera the right way using this guide.
You may have missed the news but Chimera jailbreak is out now, and with it comes the ability to jailbreak devices running iOS 12.0 through to iOS 12.1.2. And yes, this does include full support for Apple’s A12(X) devices meaning that iPhone XS and 2018 iPad Pro owners are covered. With that in mind, and with the knowledge that Chimera is now out in the public domain and available for all iOS 12.0-12.1.2 devices, let’s take a look at the process to getting the Chimera IPA and actually jailbreaking a connected device.
Step 1: Download Chimera jailbreak IPA from here. You will also need to make sure that you have Cydia Impactor installed on your PC or Mac. Cydia Impactor is a free download available from cydiaimpactor.com.
Step 2: Make sure that your iOS 12 device is connected to your machine with the relevant cable and ensure that Cydia Impactor is launched. It should automatically detect and display the connected iOS device in the Impactor user interface.
Step 3: Drag the Chimera IPA file onto the Cydia Impactor interface and then enter a valid Apple ID and password when you are prompted to do so. Cydia Impactor will do what it does best and sideload the Chimera jailbreak app onto the device ensuring that it is signed with your provided Apple ID credentials.
Step 4: Once the installation is completed, head to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management. Locate the profile associated with this installation and then select Trust and Trust again.
Step 5: Exit Settings and launch the Chimera app with a simple tap on the app icon.
Step 6: You will see a relatively simple interface with a very prominent Jailbreak button in the center of the display. Tap on it.
Step 7: Chimera will go through its process and let you know when it has been successfully jailbroken. If you exit the app, you should also now notice that you have the Sileo package manager installed on your Home screen. If this doesn’t appear initially, then simply reboot the device and go through the Chimera process again until it appears.
And there you have it! You should now be the proud owner of a successfully jailbroken iOS 12.0 / 12.1.2 device with full access to Sileo and the packages within.
