How To Jailbreak iOS 16.2 Using Palera1n On Mac

Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 16.2 using palera1n on Mac the right way.

Jailbreaking might not be the big deal that it once was, but it’s still something that a ton of people like to do with their iPhones. The latest jailbreak, palera1n, allows iOS 16.2 to be jailbroken for the first time.

As with all early jailbreaks, there are caveats to keep in mind here. The first is that palera1n is a semi-tethered jailbreak which means that you will need to connect your iPhone to a Mac to restart it in jailbroken mode after every restart. What’s more, you’ll need up to 10GB of free storage available, so those using low-capacity devices are likely out of luck.

As for supported devices, palera1n is compatible with all A11 devices and older, including the iPhone X. However, those with an A10X or A11 device must disable their passcode before jailbreaking.

On A10(X) and A11 devices, you must disable your passcode and will not be able to use your passcode, or other SEP functionality, until you boot into a stock iOS state. SEP functionality includes things such as a passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and Apple Pay.

However, with that said and assuming you’re good to go and have palera1n downloaded from here github.com/palera1n/palera1n, and then get started using instructions given below.

Step 1: Open the Terminal app on your Mac.

Step 2: Clone the repo using “git clone –recursive https://github.com/palera1n/palera1n && cd palera1n”.

Step 3: Use the CD command to switch to the location of your newly-downloaded palera1n jailbreak.

Step 4: Put your iPhone into DFU mode and connect it to your Mac.

Step 5: Run “./palera1n.sh –tweaks <iOS version you’re on> –semi-tethered”.

The jailbreak process will run and once restarted, place it into DFU mode once more. A second restart will happen after which you can open the palera1n loader app and tap “Install.”
