Installing iOS 18 via OTA Update

The quickest and easiest way to install iOS 18 and iPadOS 19 is undoubtedly to go the over-the-air route. It requires the fewest steps and all you need is a connection to the internet and plenty of battery life.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and select General.

Step 2: Tap Software Update and wait for the iOS 18/iPadOS 18 update to refresh.

Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions to install iOS 18/iPadOS 18 on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 1: You’ll need to download the correct IPSW file that corresponds to the iPhone or iPad that you are installing iOS 18/iPadOS 18 onto. Step 2: Head to Settings > iCloud > Find My. Make sure you toggle the switch into the OFF position before connecting to your computer.

Step 3: Connect your device to your PC or Mac. Open Finder on Mac or iTunes if you are on PC.

Step 4: Select your connected device from the interface. This will take you to that particular device in the iTunes software and give you access to new features. Mac users should click the Finder icon and select the iPhone in the sidebar.

Step 5: You need to do a manual restore rather than a standard restore. This involves holding down the ALT key on a Mac, or the SHIFT key on a Windows PC, followed by clicking the Restore iPhone/iPad… button. Browse and select the required IPSW file when prompted.
