One of the wonderful things about being able to jailbreak Apple’s iOS-powered devices is instantly having the ability to customize and personalize that device how you see fit. It’s your hardware, so you should be able to amend and change things as you see fit, right?
Having access to a jailbroken device means having access to Cydia, which has just benefited from the release of the iS8 tweaks, designed to bring a replication of the weather widget from the Samsung Galaxy S8 to the iPhone’s Home and Lock screens.
If you love what Samsung has done with the Galaxy S8 and S8+, but are definitely one of those users who can’t bring themselves to walk away from Apple and its iOS-powered iPhone, then you will love this small part of the S8 experience being ported across to iPhone. And, in all honesty, it is a very small part as it is merely the weather widget experience which is replicated with the existence of this tweak. Or, we should actually use the plural tweaks, as there are two versions of the same tweak offering a different experience based on personal tastes.
The first package will replicate the full Galaxy S8 weather widget experience, bringing with it everything that you would expect when looking at a widget to gauge the current and projected weather. The second, which is designated as a no-condition-information experience, will offer the same visual experience, but with the removal of the weather condition information below the location in the widget. For those that like the whole experience to be kept clean and tidy, it’s likely that the latter option will be the preferred route of installation.
Both tweaks are by the same developer, and both work in harmony with either LockHTML or iWidgets in order to go about their business and actually execute on the device. So on that basis, it would seem that both of these packages are themes or extensions of the larger platform.
Still, for those that want a small part of the Galaxy S8 experience on their iPhone, it is definitely a worthwhile installation.
If interested, both; iS8 and iS8 no condition info are available to grab right now for free, directly from the MacCiti repository which comes pre-installed in Cydia as one of the default repositories.
