That got your attention, didn’t it?
In the coming weeks, some parts of the United States will be offering what has become known as a ‘tax-free weekend’ during which select products can be bought without having to pay tax on them. That sounds like the kind of thing that we could get behind, and Apple is trying to make sure that those living in the right state are able to take advantage of the situation by, you guessed it, buying some shiny new Apple gear.
Apple has begun sending emails out to those that live in states that will take part in the tax-free extravaganza in the next few weeks, reminding them that selected Apple products will be purchasable without the addition of their state’s sales tax. Depending on where you live and what you buy, that can be quite a saving.
If your state offers a tax holiday this summer, you can buy select Apple products
without paying sales tax.* When shopping online, sales tax will appear during checkout, but you’ll see the correct tax amount on your email order confirmation.
It’s a shame that Apple’s online store isn’t clever enough to make the calculations at checkout, but if you’re going to save some cash, we doubt you’ll be complaining too much.
It’s worth noting at this point that while all this does sound grand, not all states allow the same things to be bought tax-free, so it’s definitely worth checkout what’s what before you pull the trigger on that $10,000 Mac Pro. Unless you really need one that is. In which case, why not buy two?
For those wondering whether they can get in on any of this action, the states offering such tax-free loveliness are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Mexico, South Carolina and Tennessee.
You lucky, lucky people.
