How To Get Apple News App In Any Country Without Changing Region Settings

The Apple News app bundled with iOS 9 has turned out to be exclusive to iPhone and iPad users in the United States, despite Apple having suggested that the app will be available in the United Kingdom, and Australia as well on launch. With iOS 9 having just been jailbroken, a certain tweak is now letting users run the app on an iDevice, anywhere in the world.

Released by prominent developer Hamza Sood, the tweak has been aptly named NewsOfTheWorld. This to the point, no-nonsense tweak performs the one function it was designed to carry out; to allow Apple News on any jailbroken iOS 9 supported device. There are no complicated settings to configure here, in fact, none at all.

There is already a workaround available for non-jailbroken iOS devices which allows users in non-supported regions to access the app, but that does come with a slight caveat being the workaround that it is, and not a proper solution. It involves changing your iPhone’s or iPad’s Region to the U.S. but that means you will have to put up with $, and measuring units such as miles and pounds. Not the most convenient things to do for those living outside U.S.

So keeping that in mind, NewsOfTheWorld tweak does offer a significant advantage over the aforementioned workaround by not messing with the Region settings of your iOS device. That said, it is unlikely that certain users will be willing to jailbreak their phone or tablet just to be able to run Apple News, and as such it may become a hit with the jailbreak fans running iOS 9.

NewsOfTheWorld is available at the BigBoss repo in Cydia, and can be downloaded free of charge right now. Once installed, make sure to reboot your device at-least twice, and if you’re wondering why, the developer is as well. For now, enjoy Apple News wherever you are in the world!
