A new third-party application is giving Apple Music subscribers an opportunity to view their 2018 listening habits. Similar to Spotify’s “Wrapped” feature, the new application pulls in data from an Apple Music subscription in order to provide listening insights.
One of the great things about Spotify – aside from the fact that it’s the world’s largest music streaming platform and has a seemingly never-ending catalog of music across all genres – is that it offers an end-of-year feature that allows a subscriber to get a detailed insight into the type of music that they have been listening to during the previous 12-months.
Apple doesn’t offer a clone of this feature in an official capacity so app maker NoiseHub has cobbled together a “Music Year in Review” app that offers a very basic alternative.
On the official App Store page, the Music Year in Review app suggests that it allows users to “look back at your listening trends of 2018.” The information that it provides includes most listened to genre, the artists that commanded your attention the most during 2018, and, of course, the songs that were capturing an Apple Music subscriber’s attention most frequently. All of this information is provided in custom-created graphics within the app that can then be shared with the usual social networks, such as Twitter or Instagram Stories.
One of the wonderful things about the Spotify “Wrapped” feature is that it is extremely data-rich and gives a lot of insight into the year’s activities. It offers data on new music discoveries, top genres, minutes of music streamed, and pretty much anything else that you could think would be of value to someone wanting to delve into their music streaming habits on a yearly basis. This NoiseHub’s app definitely doesn’t go into those levels of details and some users have actually reported that the information is out of date and shows songs that haven’t been listened to for years. However, if you are an Apple Music subscriber who wants to at least get a small insight into streaming habits, then it’s worth checking out.
Grab it from the link below but keep an open mind and try not to directly compare it to Spotify’s Wrapped.
