Here’s how to fix your bricked Apple HomePod 1st-gen the right way using following guide.
The HomePod and HomePod mini have both been around for a good while now, and they offer some of the best audio experiences we’ve seen from a smart speaker. The lack of a USB port of any kind does mean that you can’t connect a computer to HomePods though, and that also means it’s difficult to fix one should anything go wrong. But not impossible.
Dealing with a HomePod that was software bricked previously meant taking it into an Apple Store for assistance, but someone has now found a way to get things back up and running at home instead.
Nic’s Fix has shared a video that shows how to recover a HomePod with bricked software. It isn’t an easy process, however, but it does show that there is at least a way to revive these HomePods if you really want to.
While there is no USB port on the HomePod, there is a proprietary connector that Apple can use for various things. Now, a tool provided via GitHub can be used to interact with the HomePod via that port, and Nic apparently intends to offer an adapter that will allow a computer to be connected to a HomePod via that port.
You can check out the video to see what is required to get a HomePod back up and running and while it won’t be for everyone, it’s always good to know that these fixes are possible rather than just buying a new smart speaker.
