How To Enable Apple Intelligence On iOS 18.1 Or Later

Here’s how to enable and use Apple Intelligence on iOS 18.1 or later running iPhone or iPad device the right way.

As you may already know by now, iOS 18.1 is the first iOS 18.x update that brings Apple Intelligence to the masses for the first time.

If you have an iPhone or iPad compatible with Apple Intelligence, it’s time for you to update to iOS 18.1 to get started with Apple Intelligence. If you want to check whether or not your iPhone or iPad is compatible with Apple Intelligence, check the compatibility guide here.

Have an Apple Intelligence compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS 18.1? Follow the instructions below to enable Apple Intelligence features on your device.

Step 1: First, make sure your device’s region and language settings are set to a compatible region such as English (United States). This is because Apple Intelligence is not available in EU, so if you’re in Europe, you need to follow the instructions here first before moving to next step.

Step 2: Next, on your device, head to Settings > General > Apple Intelligence & Siri and tap on Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist.

Step 3: Once that is done, you will get a prompt to confirm. Tap on “Join Waitlist” and then you will notice that it will say “Preparing” on Apple Intelligence label in Settings > General > Apple Intelligence & Siri.

Step 4: After a few moments, depending on your device and geographical location, you will see a notification confirming Apple Intelligence is ready to be used on your device.

Step 5: Tap on this “Ready for Apple Intelligence” notification and set up Apple Intelligence to be used on your device for the first time. Tap on “Continue”, followed by “Continue” again for enabling the new Siri.

Step 6: Last but not the least, tap on “Choose Notifications to Summarize” to let Apple Intelligence to intelligently handle your notifications and that’s about it.

Apple Intelligence should now be ready to use on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 18.1 or later.
