Here’s how to change iOS 18 Lock Screen buttons on the iPhone the right way.
The iOS 18 software update allows iPhone owners to change the behavior of the Lock Screen buttons for the very first time, meaning they can be configured for a variety of different things. Here’s how to set it up.
The iOS 18 update brings with it a slew of new features but the ability to change what the Lock Screen buttons do is one that could make one of the biggest differences in the way that people use their iPhones.
With iOS 17 and previous versions, the buttons either turn the flashlight on or activate the camera. But with iOS 18 the options are almost limitless.
You will of course need to be running iOS 18 in order to enjoy this feature, but here’s what to do assuming that you’re all updated.
Step 1: Long-press on your iPhone’s Lock Screen.
Step 2: Tap the Customize button beneath the Lock Screen that you would like to edit.
Step 3: Tap Lock Screen.
Step 4: Tap the button that you’d like to remove.
Step 5: Tap the + icon to add a new Lock Screen button.
Step 6: Tap Done when you’re finished.
Those with an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max will also notice a new Lock Screen controls option in the Settings app, under the Action Button sub-menu.
New button controls include enabling the Personal Hotspot feature, starting a new timer, opening a new Quick Note, and more.
