Here’s how to bypass the ChatGPT for Mac waitlist and get it right now.
OpenAI announced the ChatGPT Mac app earlier this month and it’s of course a free download. However, the catch is that it’s only available early for those who pay for the ChatGPT Plus subscription. That is, unless you use this workaround and get it right away on free plan.
Downloading the ChatGPT Mac app is easy and all you need to do is download it from the OpenAI website.
Normally that would work to a point, but when the ChatGPT app connects to your account it will say that it isn’t available for non-ChatGPT Pro users.
However, if you follow these steps you can bypass OpenAI’s checks and then you’ll be able to use the app as normal.
Step 1: Download and launch the ChatGPT app for the Mac.
Step 2: Sign into the app using your OpenAI credentials.
Step 3: When the app window resizes, and right before the error, press CMD+Q to quit it.
Step 4: Launch the app once more and you’re done.
This workaround was shared online by Diego Jiminez on the X social network and it has worked for us, so give it a try and enjoy the new ChatGPT app on your Mac.
Note that this does not give you access to the new voice model for ChatGPT because that isn’t yet available to anyone anywhere, but we imagine it will do once the launch takes place.
