How To Add Multiple Accounts To Instagram App On iPhone And Android

Instagram has finally introduced a feature that users have been literally begging for, for years; the ability to add and interact with multiple accounts. It has taken a while for the feature to finally be integrated, but it looks as though the now Facebook-owned company is finally starting to listen to what those all-important users of the service want from a functionality perspective.

As you might imagine, it’s super easy to set up across iOS and Android, and here we’re going to take a look at the minimal steps required on how to do so.

Step 1: Launch the official Instagram app on your iOS or Android device. Select the tab on the bottom of the tab bar that relates to your own personal profile.

Step 2: Tap the Settings icon on top right of your profile page to head directly into Instagram’s Settings page. This page contains account specific settings that let users change things for their own account.

Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom and select the Add Account option. This should be clustered together with the Clear Search History and Log Out buttons. In case you do not see this option even after updating to the latest version of the app, try exiting the app, followed by closing it from running in the background (quitting from multitasking try) and then restarting your device. It should appear then.

Step 4: Instagram will display a new model view that contains the standard username and password login boxes. There’s also the option to log in with a Facebook account. This is essentially a replica of the main Instagram log in page. Enter the credentials of the desired second Instagram account and log in as normal.

The second account will now be added to the Instagram app. You can add up to 5 accounts in the app using this method.

You can manage the active account by tapping on the Profile page, followed by tapping the username in the navigation bar. A new menu will be displayed that allows the desired account to be chosen. The active account will be highlighted by displaying the user’s account avatar in the tab bar where the Profile icon used to be.

The continued growth and acceptance of Instagram as a major social media platform has resulted in more and more individuals having multiple accounts for both personal and commercial style use. The addition of the multiple accounts feature makes that use case a lot simpler than having to log in and out of accounts.
