When Apple announced the new (Product)Red iPhone 7 by simply slapping the smartphone on its website, many of us rejoiced at the possibility of not just being able to buy a new, vibrant iPhone color but also giving some money to a good cause in the process. All that excitement was soured somewhat when we saw the front of the iPhone, though.
While the rear consists of a gorgeous, vibrant red color, the whole device is ruined by Apple’s insistence on using a white front panel on the iPhones that do not have a black rear.
With the (Product)Red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus carrying that white front, there has been a real clamor across the internet for a solution.
There are options that include skins and such, but none of them are going to come close to what Apple should have done in the first place and that is to put a front panel on this particular iPhone that is identical to that on its matte and glossy back (or Black and Jet Black) devices. Alas, Apple seems to disagree on our color choices, but is it right?
To show everyone what a black fronted (Product)Red iPhone 7 could look like, Latvian designer Benjamin Geskin has created a render in which he substituted that while panel for a black one. As you can see from the images he has produced, the result is quite possibly the best looking iPhone we have seen to date. If Apple had launched this, I think it might very well have been my next iPhone, but it didn’t, so I think I will stick to recommending the Jet Black iPhone instead.
Would you agree, or are you happy with the white front panel that Apple keeps putting on iPhones like the (Product)Red variant?
