Apple is famed across the land for making beautiful products with a premium look and feel. The iPhone and iPad range are beautifully put together and instantly stand head and shoulders above the competition in that respect. Accessories like the Time Machine, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad have clearly had a lot of design research applied to them. Even the Apple TV is beautiful in its own simplistic kind of way. That leads us nicely onto the company’s range of Mac computers. The MacBook and iMac are stunning to look at, but what if we had the option to purchase a sleek and mysterious looking black version of the MacBook Air?
The introduction of the iPhone 5C toward the back-end of 2013 proved to us that Tim Cook and Apple have entered a new era in which they are open to experimenting with consumer reaction. It remains to be seen as to whether that experiment will continue going forward, or even if it will be extended to additional product lines, but the potential is definitely there. Apple has a number of products that could benefit from a little tweaking, but we definitely think that a jet black MacBook Pro or Air would be a sensational addition to the range.
We aren’t saying that the current MacBook is ugly, but there’s always room for improvement and a little bit of diversity, right? The current brushed metal, unibody design of the MacBook is elegant and precise while managing to be thin and extremely light. It’s also extremely highly durable and manages to handle everyday use extremely well without becoming damaged or scratched. That’s fantastic. But imagine the same beautiful design manufactured in a mysterious, jet black coloring. Mike Wehner from TUAW has provided a helping hand for those who struggle to imagine by producing some gorgeous renders of what a black MacBook would look like.
We don’t know if Apple has any plans to change the aesthetics of the MacBook lineup. We don’t even know if it’s something that they’ve considered in the past. However, we do know that sometimes change can be an extremely good thing if done for the right reasons, and let’s be honest here, the beautiful powerful MacBook looks simply stunning with a darker makeover.
If Apple ever introduce one, they can definitely count on receiving my money.
