When Sony announced that it would be following Nintendo’s lead and launching a PlayStation Classic, all it said was that there would be 20 titles available with the console, but oddly, it didn’t say which games they would be. That left us wondering whether our personal favorites would make the cut or whether we would be left playing the kinds of games we never enjoyed the first time around.
Sony has today put us out of our misery by confirming all 20 games, and thankfully, there are some great ones to look forward to.
I’m old enough to remember the PlayStation being released, so seeing some of these games again is something I am very much looking forward to. The full list reads:
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- Cool Boarders 2
- Destruction Derby
- Final Fantasy VII
- Grand Theft Auto
- Intelligent Qube
- Jumping Flash
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mr Driller
- Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
- Rayman
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
- Revelations: Persona
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syphon Filter
- Tekken 3
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
- Twisted Metal
- Wild Arms
Everyone will have their own thoughts on the titles that made the cut and some that didn’t, but we’re super happy to see Destruction Derby and Ridge Racer Type 4 make the cut. It’s a shame that some classics like Parappa the Rapper haven’t made an appearance, however, and we’re sure that everyone will have their own favorite that didn’t make it into the final list.
Still, we can’t wait to get our hands on a PlayStation Classic, a console that goes on sale on December 3rd and will cost $99.99. There will be two controllers thrown in.
