As you may already know, last week Samsung held their Galaxy Unpacked event in New York announcing their latest 2017 flagships — Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, and while we covered it in detail when it was announced last week, here we are sharing with you a video of our hands-on impressions of actually using the device.
Samsung had a rough end of the year last year with the Note 7 having to be taken out of the market due to exploding batteries.
With the Galaxy S8 and S8+, they might just be back in the game. The S8 and S8+ are packing amazing Super AMOLED curved displays with a resolution of 2960 x 1440. The S8 has a 5.8-inch display and S8+ has a 6.2-inch display which makes for a 570ppi and 529ppi density respectively. So barring the display and battery size (3000mAh on S8 vs 3500mAh on S8+), everything else is essentially the same.
Internally both are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (Exynos in International markets), 4GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage (microSD support up to 256GB).
If this matters to you, there’s Bluetooth 5.0, and there’s something about the processor you should know. The Snapdragon 835 here is built using the 10nm manufacturing process, which is the first for any Android phone out there.
Of course Samsung is also offering the DeX experience, which brings a desktop experience to both the S8 and S8+ via Samsung’s DeX accessory. This allows you to plug your phone into the DeX accessory, which can then be hooked up to an TV or display, complete with a mouse and keyboard to offer a tailored desktop version of Samsung’s software.
