Grand Theft Auto 5 may have released all the way back in September now, but following an extremely successful launch, the holiday gifts just keep on coming from Rockstar Games, publisher of the all-conquering series. Having just pushed a massive update to GTA Online for those on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Rockstar has come through with another treat for mobile gamers in the form of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Android. The title, which is widely regarded as one of the best of the entire series, made its way to iOS just last week, and has finally landed at the Google Play Store. More details can be found after the break!
Some remakes for mobile have transpired into near disaster, but this cannot be said of Rockstar’s efforts. Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City have already been there and done that on both iOS and Android, and with slick, updated visuals allied to seamless touch controls, San Andreas, just as the two mobile releases before it, is a joy to play even this many years from when it originally arrived.
Rockstar Games can do no wrong, and having seen Grand Theft Auto 5, despite huge delays, emerge as the fastest-selling video game of all time (as well as scooping many other records along the way), the release of San Andreas seems a fitting way to cap a hugely profitable year.
At this moment in time, there’s no word on the Windows Phone version, although we shall keep you updated as and when it does finally arrive.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas costs $6.99 on both the App Store and Google’s Play, which equates to £4.99 for those residing in the UK. If you ever played San Andreas on your old PS2, you certainly owe it to yourself to go ahead and pick this up.
For the sake of your convenience, as ever, we’ve linked to the Android version of the game below. For those using an iOS device, you should definitely give GTA: San Andreas for iOS a shot, it’s definitely worth the while.
