Google has once again reduced the price of Nexus 5X, making it a very attractive proposition for those looking to purchase a new SIM-free and unlocked Android Marshmallow-powered handset outright in time for Valentine’s Day. Those with an eye for a bargain were able to pick up a discounted Nexus 5X towards the end of last year with a $50 reduction in the original price during the holiday season. This latest marketing tactic by Google, means that the hardware is now an agreeable $80 cheaper than when it first launched.
The price has simply been slashed across many retailers to reflect the special limited time Valentine’s Day offer. There’s currently no word from the company on how long will this discounted price of $299 for 16GB model (down from original price of $380 at launch) and $349 for 32GB model (down from original price of $430 at launch) will stick, but if we were to guess, it probably won’t be for long.
Parting with that $299 and upwards will get you one SIM-free 16GB Nexus 5X in either a Carbon, Quartz, or Ice finish. The hardware ships with a 5.2-inch 1080p LCD display with reinforced Corning Gorilla Glass 3. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 1.8GHz hexa-core 64-bit processor accompanied by 2GB LPDDR3 RAM, as well as an Adreno 418 GPU. The phone also comes featuring the Nexus Imprint tech, which is essentially a fingerprint sensor.
The reduction in price comes at a time when a $50 saving is applicable on the Gold version of the Huawei Nexus 6P as well. The great news is that no matter which device you choose – whether that be the Nexus 5X or the Nexus 6P – there’s a fairly decent saving to be had on the purchase. As you would expect, the Nexus 6P is still the more expensive device with the 32GB Gold option coming in at $449 for limited period of time, down from an original price of $499. Still, it’s great to see not only financial savings, but also options for those looking for a new Android device.
