Google has proven in the past that the search giant is not shy about releasing its apps on iOS. The company fought long and hard to get some of its apps onto its perceived competitor’s devices, but with Google’s business model relying on everyone using the internet as much as possible, it’s little wonder that it simply wants to make that as easy, and as enjoyable as possible.
Its latest iOS release is actually aimed at business owners, rather than the average user. Going by the name of Google Places for Business, the app allows business to promote their wares from the comfort of an iOS device.
The app, which is predictably free, is apparently the best way for businesses to get themselves onto Google’s various parts, such as Google+, Maps and good old search.
According to Google, business owners can now validate their business right from their iPhone as well as update the information that is kept on record for that business. So, no more having out of date contact information for the local coffee shop, hopefully!
Business owners will also now be able to upload photos of their business to a Google+ page, and they’ll be able to manage multiple business locations from inside the one app.
It’s interesting to see Google making it easier for businesses to not only get their data into search and other Google properties, but to also update that information on the fly. Google is no doubt aware that there is nothing more irritating than finding the perfect restaurant online only to discover that its contact details are years out of date and all you want to do is make a reservation!
Google Places for Business is available on the Apple App Store right now and costs absolutely nothing. If you own a business and want it on Google, then you’ll want to get this app ASAP.
