Google I/O 2017 Registrations Now Open, Here Are The Details

Remember how we told you last week that Google was getting ready to open registrations for its 2017 Google I/O developer conference? Well that just happened, and anyone wishing to attend can get their name down for a ticket as of right now via the events.google.com/io website. The event is the biggest of the year for those working in the Android and Chrome ecosystem as well as anything else even remotely connected to Google and its services.

Just as was the case last year, this year’s Google I/O developer event will take place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, and will run from May 17th to 19th.

Those who want to attend will notice an increase in ticket prices, with tickets costing $1,150, which is up from the $900 Google was charging in 2016. Those who qualify for an academic discount will only have to hand over $375 in order to attend, but even that is an increase over last year’s $300 price.

Even if you decide that money is no object and the prospect of rubbing shoulders with Googlers and developers is worth every penny, don’t get your hopes up just yet. At this point, you are simply registering your interest in the event.

With hands-on learning, technical talks, and Googlers on-hand to share their insights, Google I/O is returning for the second year at Shoreline Amphitheatre.

Google says it will allow registrations to take place up until 17:00 on February 27th with those who will be allowed to buy tickets being drawn at random after that point.

“Applicants will be chosen at random after the drawing application window has ended,” says Google. In fact, you will be automatically charged and receive your ticket via email on February 28th, so make sure your card details are correct when registering your interest – you don’t want to miss out because your card got declined!
