Google I/O 2014 Ticket Lottery Winners Announced, Are You Going?

Set to take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from June 25 to the 26th, Google I/O is usually the place where the company likes to announce big new versions of Android as well as new hardware to boot. As a result, Google never struggles to find people willing to cough up the $900 entry fee - a fee that doesn't seem so bad when Google's love of giving away expensive items like phones and laptops to attendees is taken into account.

There's no concrete news on what Google has in store for conference goers this time around, but we wouldn't be at all surprised to see a new version of Android, possibly running on a Google Play Edition flavor of the new Galaxy S5 from Samsung, and a new Nexus device perhaps?. If everyone finds one of those under their seats, Google will no doubt be pretty popular!

We'll be keeping our eyes peeled for further news as the event draws ever nearer, with coverage of the event live from Google I/O itself in June.

If you applied for the opportunity to hand over $900 to Google in exchange for a ticket to its Google I/O 2014 conference then now’s the time to start checking your email inbox, because the company has started sending out confirmation emails to those that have been selected to attend.

We told you a few days back that Google had opened up registration for Google I/O 2014, with people able to put their hat in the ring in order to try and bag a ticket, and it appears Google’s random selections have been made, as a number of our staff members have started receiving their confirmation emails. With demand for tickets to its developer conference at an all-time high, Google decided to take all requests for tickets and then select people at random from that list. It’s an approach that Apple takes with its WWDC event too, and is largely believed to be a better solution than the free-for-all that usually results in the two conferences selling out in minutes.
