Google Has Already Discontinued The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL As Stock Runs Out

The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL might have only been around for less than a year but that isn’t stopped Google from canning them. They’re both now officially discontinued with all versions now out of stock across the United States.

There are still some floating around in some countries, but this is definitely the end for the two phones.

Google has confirmed as much, saying to The Verge that those who are interested in picking one of the two handsets up should do it while stocks last.

“Google Store has sold through its inventory and completed sales of Pixel 4 [and] 4 XL,” a Google spokesperson confirms to The Verge. “For people who are still interested in buying Pixel 4 [and] 4 XL, the product is available from some partners while supplies last. Just like all Pixel devices, Pixel 4 will continue to get software and security updates for at least three years from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US.”

This comes just a day after Google announced the Pixel 4a budget handset at $349 while also confirming the Pixel 5 will come in due course. It will presumably not be too far out, given the fact the Pixel 4a is now Google’s flagship device.

In a normal year we’d probably have the Pixel 5 ready to go, but 2020 is anything but a normal year. The coronavirus pandemic has caused chaos for many tech companies, with Apple also saying that it won’t be launching its new iPhones in the usual September window, too.
