Google Chairman Eric Schmidt Posts A Guide On How To Switch From iPhone To Android

iPhone Android

Of course not everyone has to agree with Eric and the points he has made about iOS and Android, but as an iOS user if you are in the market looking for a new Android phone, his latest post on Google+ is a good start.

Here are the steps I recommend to make this switch. Like the people who moved from PCs to Macs and never switched back, you will switch from iPhone to Android and never switch back as everything will be in the cloud, backed up, and there are so many choices for you. 80% of the world, in the latest surveys, agrees on Android.

…..

1. Set up the Android phone
b) Make sure the software on the Android phone is updated to the latest version (i.e. 4.3 or 4.4). You should get a notification if there are software updates.

We can't leave it at that without pointing out step 1b, which says that everyone should make sure that they're running the latest version of Android on their new device by checking that their new phone is all updated. Which is common sense, and indeed good advice. So long as your phone actually gets updates, and so long as they're 4.3 or above. Yes we're being pedantic, but it's what we do.

Schmidt's post, all jibes and sniggering aside, might actually be of use to some people. We're dubious about whether it was actually written by the guy himself, but maybe we're doing him a disservice. Regardless, if you're chopping that iPhone in for something with a decidedly more Android flavor and just don't know where to start, head on over to Eric Schmidt's Google+ stream, if only to remind yourself that Google+ exists.

We don't expect to see Apple CEO Tim Cook posting a similar guide on switching from Android to iOS any time soon, either.

Well things are never dull when a post has the former Apple’s board of directors member’s name in the title, and this latest offering is no different. Now executive chairman over at ‘the Plex,’ Eric Schmidt is never shy about making his thoughts clear, and he’s got Apple, iOS and the iPhone in his sights right now, as shown by a rather thinly veiled jibe courtesy of his Google+ account.

Posting via his supposedly personal account, Schmidt exclaims that lots of his friends are jumping from the iPhone, with the obvious destination being something like a Samsung Galaxy S4, the Nexus 5 or Motorola’s DROID Ultra. Thing is, Schmidt thinks that they need some handy tips on what they need to do in order to make the switch as easy as possible, and as a result he wrote a lengthy Google+ post to offer a helping hand. And have a swipe at the competition in the process.
