As we edge nearer to the release of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ the company’s US arm has taken the somewhat unusual step of issuing a press release in which it announced that pre-orders for the new phones are far outpacing those which the Galaxy S7 series received a year ago.
According to Samsung, the pre-orders of the new phones represent “with strong double digit growth” over the same period last year, mimicking reports that have been very similar coming out of South Korea.
With the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ apparently big successes as far as pre-orders are concerned, Samsung has also given us an insight into which devices in particular buyers seem to be favoring.
When it comes to color, black is the winner or more specifically, Midnight Black. The rather fetching Orchid Gray may look gorgeous in some photos, but it is apparently no match for the universal appeal of a black smartphone.
Which color users are opting for is interesting, but the big question for us however was always going to be whether buyers are choosing to go for the super large Galaxy S8+ over the already large Galaxy S8.
Samsung says its customers cannot get enough of huge screens in its new press release, with the Galaxy S8+ reported to be the most popular. We find this interesting given the fact that even the smaller of the two phones boasts a 5.8-inch display which can not be called a small screen by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, we do wonder whether people actually realize how large that Galaxy S8+ will be when they take delivery. That said however, the device’s diminutive bezels do make that 6.2-inch display much more manageable than you might expect.
