The rumors and speculation pertaining to the Samsung Galaxy S IV has been almost non-stop during the opening six weeks of 2013, and murmurings originating from the Twitter account of Eldar Murtazin, founder of Russian blog Mobile-Review, indicates the highly-anticipated device will be unveiled on March 14th in New York. Of course, it should be taken with a pinch of salt at this point in time, although with a March / April having looked a probable release frame for a while now, it’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that the handset could be just one month away.
Samsung’s own executive’s have noted the device will be arriving “soon”, and although it was originally suspected to be arriving at this year’s Mobile World Congress, the Korean company’s vice president JK Shin shot that particular notion down late last month. Just a day later, reports out of Asia suggested it would be arriving on March 22nd, so it’s fairly safe to presume it will in or around that time period.
Most high-end mobile releases are exciting in one way or another, but any new Galaxy S device is – alongside Apple’s iPhone – an exceptional case. It has proven to be the most successful Android series of smartphone time after time, and with the Galaxy S III having sold tens of millions of units in little over six months, the people seem more than ready for the next installment.
While no features have been confirmed, it is thought Samsung will go with a full HD 1080p display offering an impressively-crisp resolution of 1920 x 1080-pixels. Said to be powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, it should be able to manage everything you throw at it with ease, and although it’s not set in stone, the company rarely tends to hold back when it comes to the latest Galaxy S release.
Expect to see 2 gigs of RAM, a decent (perhaps 13-megapixel) camera, and a 5-inch (or thereabouts) display showing off Android 4.2.x Jelly Bean. Recent chit-chat has also thrown up the idea of a Galaxy S IV mini and a Galaxy smart watch launching alongside the main device, and while the Galaxy S III mini has been a relative success story since releasing late last year, it’s hard not to be skeptical about the very notion of a smart watch potentially stealing some of the S IV’s thunder.
