Consumers interested in new devices from a specific manufacturer will generally be aware of what’s coming, and when it’s coming, but that doesn’t stop the excitement from growing when a leaked part or schematic shows up.
Samsung-loving Android fans will be more than excited for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 reveal – especially after the Note 7 debacle – and will be amped up another level thanks to the leak of this glass protective front cover allegedly pulled directly from Samsung’s next-generation device.
The glass protective cover certainly isn’t going to give the whole game away. It doesn’t tell us the exact specifications of the device. It doesn’t tell us how much the device will weigh or what configuration any hardware-based buttons will be in. It doesn’t even give us a visual overview of the whole device and what we can exactly expect the bigger picture to look like. But what it does provide is confirmation that the Note 8 is essentially going to be a larger version of Samsung’s existing Galaxy S8 and S8+ line.
The glass cover shows a huge screen area which takes up pretty much the whole surface area of the component. It also reinforces the fact that the Note 8 will be similar to the S8 and S8+ in that it will ship with hardly any side bezels, with attention being lavished onto the stunning Infinity Display.
The leaked component also shows cut-outs at the top of the device speaker, a forward-facing camera, and what appears to be an ambient light sensor, or similar. The rest we will have to find out when the device is officially released.
If we are to talk about what we think we already know about the device, then we can expect a Note 8 with a stunning 6.3-inch edge-to-edge Infinity Display, measuring in at approximately 9.5mm in thickness. We are expecting a varied processor depending on the region, as well as 6GB of onboard RAM and a battery cell that should pack in no less than 3,300mAh capacity.
Samsung is likely to send the device to market finished in either black, blue, or gold, and commanding a retail price of approximately $1,100, which would instantly put it alongside Apple’s next-generation iPhone when released later this year.
