Considering we are right in the middle of the festive season, it shouldn’t really come as any great surprise when developers take the plunge and reduce the price of some of their wares for a limited period of time. Australian based Halfbrick Studios has been hit with a fairly large dose of festive spirit, much to the benefit of iPhone and iPad owners. For the next 24-hours, the development outfit from down under have made all of their fantastic iOS games entirely free of charge as their gift to the Apple hardware owning community.
Phil Larsen operates as the Chief Marketing Officer at Halfbrick, and openly admits that this festive madness is the “biggest sale we’ve ever had”. Making every product you have for an entire mobile platform free of charge can definitely be classified as a fairly substantial sale. The price slash means that new and old iOS device owners alike can grab the fantastic Fruit Ninja title entirely free for the iPhone and iPod touch, or the Fruit Ninja HD variant for the iPad. With over 300 million downloads to date, the fruit slashing creation is one of the most popular games to hit any mobile platform.
Fruit Ninja will more than likely be the first port of call on the App Store for those wanting to get in on the free-of-charge action, but let’s not forget the array of other fantastic gaming titles that Halfbrick has under their belt that are also forming part of the 24-hour giveaway. The infinite side-scrolling Jetpack Joyride is also available and allows gamers to step into the boots of Barry as he uses his vast array of jetpacks to fly and dodge incoming missiles and laser beams, but the aforementioned title is already free, so don’t get too excited about it.
The fantastic Age of Zombies and Age of Zombies Anniversary edition for Retina devices is also available entirely free of charge, with lesser known titles like Monster Dash, Blast Off and the Puss in Boots branded version of Fruit Ninja finishing off one of the craziest iOS sales we have seen in recent years. Halfbrick may have been developing and releasing quality iOS games for the better part of three years, but this holiday sale shows that they are still extremely keen on giving something back to the iOS users who have made them so successful over the years.
