Forget The iPhone 6s: Here Are Apple’s Big Plans For 2016 iPhone 7

It’s sometimes extremely difficult to keep up with the lightning fast pace of the consumer technology market, and in particular, the ever evolving smartphone market. Apple’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets may have only been officially available to the public to purchase since Friday gone, but we’re already starting to witness the surfacing of speculation pertaining to Apple’s next-generation iPhone, which is expected to be named the “iPhone 7”.

The conjecture surrounding next year’s iPhone has managed to make its way into the public domain after being picked up by a number of users on the Chinese social networking site Sina Weibo. As you might expect, the speculation is suggesting that the first change to next year’s iPhone will be visual, with the hardware encompassing aesthetics which move away from the design that Apple has been comfortable with for the last two iPhone launches.

It’s being said that the new design will not only look visually different to the current model, but that it will be modeled to include a waterproof and dust-proof design. There are countless smartphones on the market that are visually beautiful and technically extremely capable, but only a few manufacturers proactively focus on incorporating such designs within their flagship Android devices. The rumors are suggesting that Apple could finally try follow suit with the introduction of the iPhone 7.

The postings on Weibo also suggest that this year’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be the last iPhones to be built from a metallic frame. If the rumors turn out to be accurate, then Apple has already developed a working prototype of the iPhone 7 made from a currently unknown material. It’s unknown whether or not this change would be for structural and strength reasons, or if the new material could potentially allow Apple to remove the bands from the rear of the device that currently allow the internal radios to do their job through the aluminum casing.

Finally, Apple is said to be planning on building the new iPhone with a “completely flat” LCD panel. It is entirely unknown what that even means at this point, suggesting that it’s worth keeping this speculation in mind, but pushing it to the back of your head. It’s likely that Apple is already on the ball when it comes to the iPhone 7, but it’ll be a little while till we get some concrete evidence of what’s to come.
