With all the rumors flying around about the iPhone 6s, 6s Plus gaining the new Force Touch technology, the latest report to hit the Internet suggests that this new piece of tech could in fact be exclusive to the larger smartphone out of the two – the iPhone 6s Plus. Surprised? Head over the jump for more on this news.
According to the Economic Daily News, TPK, the company that will be supplying the Cupertino giant with the fabled Force Touch sensors, seems to have the iPhone 6s Plus on its list only, with no mention of the smaller iPhone 6s. This obviously leads to some serious speculations that the 6s may actually miss out on this game-changing addition to the Apple’s smartphone lineup.
There have been around three reports since the start of this year, suggesting that the new iPhones will not only feature Force Touch, but would be bundled with twice the RAM as well – 2GB to be exact. But given the performance that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus can dish out compared to the competition, especially on the multimedia and gaming front, 2GB seems to be overly stretched. A dual-lens camera configuration was also rumored, but that news has been widely shot down lately.
Yes, there have been plenty of reports corroborated by reliable sources that Force Touch is in fact on its way, but its exclusivity to Apple’s phablet – that would be the iPhone 6s Plus – has added a twist to the development. The move, if true, is not a surprising one if we look at the current iPhone 6 Plus with its full-HD display and the addition of optical image stabilization to its camera module.
Force Touch sensors would definitely add to the cost of the iPhone as well, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Apple packed this technology in a device that is already costlier than the iPhone 6s. Except for the bigger display on the 6s Plus, there would not be much to differentiate it from the 6s, if both packed the same set of features and tech. As consumers, this may pain us, but from a marketing perspective, we wouldn’t be too stoked if Apple lived up to this report.
