Foldable iPhone Could Cost Nearly Double The iPhone 16 Pro Max

Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone might be coming, but it won’t be cheap.

According to analyst Tim Long from Barclays, the device could start at a whopping $2,300 in the U.S., making it the priciest iPhone ever.

This estimate comes after Long’s team visited hardware suppliers in Asia, where supply chain discussions indicate a possible launch between late 2026 and early 2027. If true, the foldable iPhone would cost nearly twice as much as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which starts at $1,199.

Apple supply chain expert Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted a price range of $2,000 to $2,500 for the device. Despite the steep cost, he believes demand could still be strong, especially if Apple pulls off a major breakthrough, like a foldable display with no visible crease.

Rumors suggest the foldable iPhone will feature a 7.8-inch inner screen and a 5.5-inch outer display. Other expected specs include dual rear cameras, a front camera, and a high-density battery. Instead of Face ID, the device might have a Touch ID power button. Apple is also expected to use premium materials, with a titanium body and a hinge made of both titanium and stainless steel.

Mass production is expected to start in late 2026, but with launch still far off, pricing remains speculative. If Apple delivers a high-end, crease-free foldable, the hefty price tag might not stop die-hard fans from upgrading.
