Apple is expected to bring USB-C to the iPhone lineup this year, with both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro getting the upgrade. Now the first leak claiming to show that port is here, and it looks exactly how we’d hoped.
The photo, shared to Twitter by leaker Unknownz21, shows an iPhone 15 Pro’s USB-C port and little else. But the leaker has proven reliable in the past, so we’ll have to take it at face value for now.
Apple is set to move away from Lightning and jump to USB-C following the EU’s decision to require all phones to use a common connector starting in 2024. The iPhone 15 lineup is expected to launch in September of 2023, hence the switch.
Other changes that we expect to see from the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max include thinner bezels, a new periscope camera on the Pro Max, and an upgraded A17 Bionic chip.
Recently leaked CAD images give us a good idea of what all of that will look like, but this is the first time that we’ve seen an actual photo of something related to the iPhone 15 lineup as a whole.
Apple is expected to announce the new phones at an event in September, with the devices going on sale just a few days later. That’s Apple’s usual release cadence and we see little reason for that to change this time around.
