Final Cut Pro X 10.4.5 Update Brings Stability, Performance Improvements

If you’re a video editor who uses Apple‘s Final Cut Pro X, then you might have missed the stealthy update that rolled out yesterday.

Apple didn’t make a bug fuss about the release, which is the first since the bigger 10.4.4 update that arrived in November of last year.

The reason for the low-key release is probably the fact that there are no new features to enjoy here, but if you’re a lover of stability, you’re likely going to be pleased with what Final Cut Pro X 10.4.5 has to offer, because it’s all about the stability improvements.

Improved performance when generating waveforms for clips with no audio channels

Improves stability when sending a project to Compressor using the keyboard shortcut Shift-Command-E

Improves stability when pasting Arabic or Hebrew text into a title

Improves stability when switching tabs in the Timeline Index

If Apple continues a cadence that it appears to have fallen into, we can expect the next big update to come towards the end of this year, with more minor changes popping up over the next few months. The arrival of version 10.4.4 in November definitely gave users plenty to sink their teeth into until then, with Workflow Extensions and built-in noise reduction at the top of the list of new features.

While stability fixes may not be as sexy as huge new features, we’re more than happy to see Apple focusing on making sure what is already out there works, rather than tacking new features on the side.
