Final Cut Pro 11 For Mac Released, Here’s What’s New

Apple just dropped some major updates for Final Cut Pro, and they’re a big deal for video editors on both Mac and iPad.

After sticking with version 10 for over a decade, Final Cut Pro 11 is finally here, bringing powerful new tools and taking full advantage of Apple’s M-series chips.

One of the standout features is Magnetic Mask, an AI-powered tool that can isolate people or objects in a video without needing a green screen. It’s a game-changer for customizing backgrounds and applying effects.

Another cool addition is Transcribe to Captions, which automatically generates captions using an Apple-trained language model—perfect for boosting accessibility and saving time.

If you’re into 3D content, Final Cut Pro now supports spatial video editing. You can tweak footage shot on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, or Canon’s R7 camera and even preview it with Vision Pro. Spatial videos can be exported directly to your Photos library or shared on visionOS platforms.

Mac users also get some handy new effects like Picture in Picture and Callout, plus modular transitions for smoother editing. Meanwhile, Final Cut Pro for iPad adds a touch-first editing experience, complete with haptic feedback for Apple Pencil users. The iPad version now includes quick tools like Enhance Light and Color for one-tap fixes, new drawing options, and support for high-frame-rate video editing.

In addition to these updates, Apple refreshed its Logic Pro and other creative apps, adding new features across the board. The updated Final Cut Pro is free for existing users, but if you’re new, it’ll cost $299.99 on Mac or $4.99/month on iPad. Ready to upgrade your editing game? These updates are live on the App Store now!
