Faster Apple TV Focused On Gaming With New Remote Coming Next Year [Report]

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has used his regular Fully Charged newsletter to once again touch base on a new Apple TV model.

According to the newsletter, Apple is expected to introduce a new Apple TV model in 2021 that puts additional focus on gaming and comes with an improved processor.

Gurman, as well as other analysts, have talked in-depth about the potential for a brand new Apple TV. Many of those analysts, including consumers all over the world, would have secretly hoped that Apple would have introduced the new hardware before the end of 2o2o. That clearly isn’t the case but the belief is that the hardware is now coming in 2021.

The speculated improvements to the new 2021 model include a new accompanying remote that could potentially come with features that would allow owners to find the controller more easily if it was misplaced. It’s likely that Apple would use it’s existing Find My platform in order to make this possible. As is usually the case with a new model, the 2021 model would come with an improved processor, with previous speculation suggesting that Apple has prototyped models of the Apple TV complete with the A12 and A14 chips.

It’s unlikely that the Cupertino-based company would release two models into the market at the same time, which means that Apple would likely need to settle on one of those processors over the other.

There is also a suggestion that the internal storage will be bumped up with 64GB and 128GB variants on offer. This could be to cater to the previous speculation that Apple will release hugely improved games with console-like experiences that won’t be compatible with earlier Apple TV models.

The existing Apple TV 4K has proven to be extremely popular with punters around the world but was released more than three years ago, which means that a 2021 release is highly likely. We’ve also heard about most of these potential features before so there is nothing in Gurman’s newsletter or any other speculation that would seem to be wide of the mark.
