The Apple TV has a whole new way for people to watch content from other parts of the world thanks to a new app.
That app is the popular ExpressVPN, an app that is already available on multiple platforms including the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Now, it’s available on the Apple TV thanks to a new update that takes advantage of a recent tvOS update.
That update is tvOS 17, one that allows VPN apps to function on the Apple TV for the first time. This feature means that people can connect to VPNs directly for the first time, something that will be a great addition for people who want to be able to watch content that is only available in specific parts of the world, for example.
As you might expect, the ExpressVPN app is only functional rather than having tons of features because it only needs to do one thing — connect to a VPN server wherever you want to appear as if you are accessing the internet from.
However, 9to5Mac says that ExpressVPN has confirmed that it intends to add new features over time in the future.
It’s important to remember that you need to have tvOS 17 or later installed on your Apple TV for this to work, so make sure that you’re all updated if you intend to make use of ExpressVPN on the big screen.
