If you’ve spent any amount of time flashing ROMs or modding elements of your Android device, you’ll know how enjoyable and rewarding a process it can be. However, when flashing firmware, wiping your data is always a prerequisite, and while there are various means of backing up your smartphone or tablet, such as a full ROM back up in recovery (known as a nandroid backup), it is something we sometimes wish we didn’t have to go through. It’s an inconvenient, but necessary predicament, XDA-Developers member Goddchen has sought to make the process of backing up information a great deal easier by creating a sort of all-in-one utility with Easy App Toolbox.
Goddchen is the same guy behind the popular Nandroid Browser, so certainly knows a thing or two about backing up an Android device. As with Nandroid Browser, Easy App Toolbox is a very polished app, and in many ways comparable to the popular backup tool Titanium Backup, which is used by many flash / mod enthusiasts.
Easy App Toolbox offers the ability to backup your device’s apps fully, and you can easily store the info in the cloud through services like Dropbox or Google Drive. While the Play Store includes a handy feature to remember which apps you have downloaded and purchased (thus, they can easily be re-downloaded), all your crucial information (such as your highest score on Temple Run 2) is not reinstated. Easy App Toolbox ensures you get all of your information back once you’ve finished flashing a ROM in as hassle-free a fashion as possible, and if you’re not yet taken by the tech industry’s transcendence towards the cloud, you can always backup and restore with your PC.
I know what you’re thinking – if it functions in much the same way as Titanium Backup, why not just use Titanium Backup? Well, first and foremost, it’s always good to have options, but secondly, Easy App Toolbox does not require root access.
So, if you’re looking for a root-free alternative to Titanium Backup, check out the link provided below, which includes all the necessary details and download link.
