Tesla is reportedly getting ready to launch a new software update that brings with it a number of big interface and usability improvements.
The new changes are reportedly rolling out to Teslas that are owned by company employees which would suggest that they will be made available to everyone eventually.
While no timeline for the new software being rolled out publicly has been shared, it’s likely to be relatively soon. And once that software is here we can expect plenty of improvements.
Carrying version number 2023.12, the software was first reported by Teslascope, a service that tracks Tesla software updates. According to them, we can expect “a trove of interface-oriented improvements” that include text size adjustments, controls search, points of interest, phone call controls, and more.
The font changes will apparently mean that standard and large options will be offered, while the search functionality was detailed in the software release notes.
Use the ‘Search’ function for quicker access to controls and settings.
Go to Controls > Search and enter a search term. Make changes directly from the result or tap the link to jump to that panel in Controls.
The same software update also brings passenger seat adjustment controls to the rear touchscreen, while a new chime will also sound when changing gears. Note that the chime will be optional, however.
By rolling the software update out to Tesla employees it’s thought that the company is essentially running a private beta and will look to iron out any issues before public release.
