The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are both expected to go on sale in September after being announced in the same month and rumors already suggest some changes are coming.
One of those changes might have just leaked in a whole new way, too.
We’ve been hearing for weeks now that Apple’s iPhone 16 lineup will redesign the camera array on the back of the device to change the arrangement from diagonal to vertical.
The switch will make the new camera system look more like older models including the iconic iPhone X, but the change is about more than nostalgia. The new vertical camera array is set to allow for things like spatial video capture, perfect for viewing on the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset.
Now, claimed case molds have leaked and they appear to show the vertical cameras setup in all its glory. The images were shared to the X social network by leaker Majin Bu, but it’s important to remember that the leaker has a mixed track record. It’s also worth noting that Apple can change its plans before the new iPhones are made official.
We can expect to get more concrete information as the new iPhones enter further stages of development, but it does seem increasingly likely that this is one change we should expect given the number of leaks we’ve seen to date.
Apple would also likely be been to ensure that more people can capture spatial videos moving forward — the only iPhones that can do it currently are the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
