Dropbox was one of the very first cloud services to really establish itself in the consumer market. Despite facing stiff competition recently from the might of Apple’s iCloud, Microsoft’s SkyDrive, and most recently, Google Drive, Dropbox continues to be the cloud hub of choice for many digital consumers.
The days of hard-drive malfunctions costing users their entire file collection have been banished thanks to the likes of Dropbox, which allow all kinds of miscellaneous digital stuffs to be stored securely in the mystical, magic, cloud infrastructure.
Having toyed with Microsoft’s somewhat impressive SkyDrive, I would still consider myself a Dropbox customer, thus I am always on a look out for a decent mobile app to help me keep my documents, music and videos in check.
Drop Manager for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch paints itself as "the best way to manage your Dropbox files," and with such a bold statement, I couldn’t resist giving it a whirl. While I wouldn’t necessarily go as far as to corroborate the claim made by developer Appurpose Studio, I am certainly impressed by the functionality of Dropbox Manager. With so many apps believing a fancy, cluttered UI is the way forward, Dropbox Manager keeps things simple from the get-go with a sleek, minimalistic and easy-to-navigate user interface.
Within the app, you can easily rename, move, delete, cut, paste, and generally manage just about every aspect of your Dropbox folder. You can easily share items via email, and open files with native and third-party apps, although Drop Manager actually supports viewing a variety of different file types including .ocx, .xlsx, .pdf, .pptx, .mp3, .mp4, and so forth.
For 99 cents over at Apple’s App Store, it certainly trumps the official offering from Dropbox, and provides essentially every feature you could ever need while managing your cloud-based files. Having tried it for a considerable amount of time, I’ve found it’s bug/lag free, and I would highly recommend it to anybody still in search of a decent Dropbox file management app.
