Apple has today released for download the watchOS 8.6, macOS Monterey 12.4, tvOS 15.5, and HomePod 15.5 to the world. Those who have Apple Watches, Macs, Apple TVs, and HomePods can now download the updates over the air.
All of these new updates include the usual array of fixes and performance improvements, but some of them do offer more improvements than others.
New features or not, we always recommend that people download the latest versions of Apple’s software as a matter of course.
macOS Monterey 12.4
This new update can be downloaded via the System Preferences app and includes support for an updated Podcasts app that allows people to set the number of episodes that will be stored before older ones are deleted. The update also includes support for the new Studio Display firmware update that improves webcam quality.
watchOS 8.6
This watchOS update expands ECG functionality to Mexico, while the irregular hearth rhythm feature is also available in the same country for the first time. The update can be installed via the Watch app on your iPhone.
tvOS 15.5
Apple doesn’t often say much about its new tvOS updates and this time is no different. You can download the update right now by heading into the Settings app on your Apple TV, but don’t expect any big new features. The beta program certainly didn’t turn any up!
HomePod 15.5
Apple has also released for download HomePod 15.5 firmware update for regular HomePod and HomePod mini. Changes in HomePod 15.5 are unknown at this point.
