Well that didn’t take very long, did it? Following on from the launch of the Google-Motorola Moto X smartphone, the deliciously vibrant stock wallpapers from the new device have already been plucked away, packaged up, and are now ready for distribution. There are 16 wallpapers in all, and you can check the preview – as well as that all-important download link – after the leap.
The Moto X smartphone was billed, in the run-up to its announcement, as your standard, run-of-the-mill mid-range smartphone. Yet as those of you who caught the grand unveiling the other day will know, a tremendous amount of work has been put into ensuring this is a device with wide market appeal.
With numerous color configurations, a slick design and the built-by-Googleness, it offers Android in exactly the manner that the search giant always intended.
Vendors have gotten themselves in a bit of a tizzy in trying to up the hardware specs with each and every new smartphone. Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop said not so long ago that anything more than a single-core for a smartphone was basically a waste, and while this isn’t strictly true, one can see where he was coming from.
Recognizing that a smartphone doesn’t need an octa-core processor and untold gigs of RAM in order to carry out most of the basic day-to-day digital errands, the Moto X smartphone is a purpose-built marvel with a more than substantial performance level optimized specifically for the software it will be running.
One of the main reasons cited as to why iPhones, despite lagging behind some of the top-end Android smartphones, seem to offer a slicker experience than any other platform, is that Apple’s software and hardware design is all done in-house, so the finished product is a true reflection of iOS as Apple intended.
The Moto X is by no means a showstopper when you compare it to the likes of the HTC One, but for all-round performance and marketability, it looks as though Google, and Motorola, have finally nailed it.
I’m sure many of you will be desperate to get your hands on the new Moto X, but until you can, please feel free to mull over the new wallpapers Google has thrown into the bargain. Since the device is only launching Stateside initially, the subject matter mainly concerns all things Americana. Still, they look good even on high-res devices, so be sure to check them out and leave your comments below.
