HTC’s elusive ‘M8’ handset is due to be announced later on this month, but while the Taiwanese company will have wanted to save some details until the official unveiling, the cat is already out of the bag thanks to an unofficial hands-on video. The lengthy clip arrived amid a wave of leaks pertaining to the so-called “HTC One 2,” and now, the device’s new stock wallpapers have emerged and you can download them right away.
A system dump has enabled to get hold of the new backgrounds early, and with 18 in total, there’s plenty of variety. At a resolution of 2160 x 1920, the wallpapers are squarish, and it’s likely that, for your own device, you will have to crop / select a specific area to set as your background. Still, since they’re just wallpapers, you can download them to any device, including, if you so wish, iOS and Windows Phone handsets.
In terms of themes, HTC has laid on a nice range, although for the most part, this is a bundle aimed towards those with an appreciation of the natural environment. Lots of grass / flowers and other outdoorsy effects are present, but with a few original graphics also thrown in, you’ll almost certainly find something that takes your fancy.
With the wallpapers now out, various tech. specs having been revealed and that aforementioned hands-on clip leaving us under no illusions as to what we’ll be getting, all that remains now is the announcement. With two weeks still to go, we’ve got plenty of time for more leaks, and it will be interesting to see, by the time March 25th comes around, whether HTC has anything surprising left to announce.
As well as the customary processor bump, one of the key alterations made with the next HTC flagship is the introduction of a second rear-facing camera. At this point, in fact, the dual-camera combo is the only real mystery surrounding the handset, and although we know it will enhance the photographic capabilities beyond what the HTC One offered, it remains to be seen exactly how.
Still, we’ll keep you updated on any further tidbits, and in the meantime, you can download the new wallpapers from here.
