Microsoft likes to push its users towards the Office 365 subscription service but for those who do not like to pay for software as part of a monthly deal, the company is today releasing Office 2019 for both Windows and Mac.
The update brings with it a number of features that have been added to Office 365 over the last three years with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Video, Project, Access, and Publisher all receiving some attention this time around.
As well as the new per-app updates, the Office 2019 release will include a new roaming pencil case as well as changes to the infamous ribbon across all of Microsoft’s Office apps. Other improvements include a new translator as well as much needed improvements to accessibility. PowerPoint fans will also rejoice because 4K video support is now also added.
It’s a big period for Microsoft. Not content with releasing Office 2019, the company also has some other software popping up today. Exchange Server 2019, Skype for Business Server 2019, SharePoint Server 2019, and Project Server 2019 are all set to be released in the coming weeks.
As for Office 2019, the update will be made available to commercial licensees initially with business and consumer versions arriving in the next few weeks.
If you’re an Office user looking for all the latest bells and whistles but don’t want to or can’t sign up for Office 365, then this is the update you’ve been waiting for.
